A NOTE FROM LUCERO
The truth about being in front of the camera
Believe it or not, I used to avoid being in front of the camera at all costs.
For years, I was completely comfortable behind the lens — directing, guiding, making everyone else look their best — while quietly feeling terrified at the idea of being photographed myself.
Then I finally stepped in front of one.
Everything clicked. The vulnerability. The awkwardness. The voice in your head telling you you're not photogenic. I felt all of it. But when a photographer friend took the time to truly see me, something shifted. For the first time, I looked at a photo of myself and recognized the woman I'd always been.
That's exactly how most people feel.
No one is born knowing how to pose. What looks effortless in a great image comes down to three things — the right direction, the right light, and someone behind the camera who knows how to guide you there.
That experience changed how I work. My goal isn't just to create a strong image. It's to make the process feel natural, grounded, and even enjoyable.
